USER INSTRUCTIONS FOR INFILTEC LEAKAGE ANALYSIS PROGRAM

Latest Improvements in 06/20/94 Version of Program LA

1. NFPA 2001-94 based calculations for gases 1301, Inergen, FM-200, FE-13
   and NAF-SIII.
2. The graph is printed out in the report on a separate page.
3. Printer output can be written to a disk file (in ASCII format) for use in
   word processing
4. The ESC key now allows jumping from all screens, back to the previous
   screen.
5. Printer output has 1" margins at left and right if your printer is set to
   10 cpi.
6. More comment lines are added to Test Identification Screen.
7. If screen entries are blank, then the lines are not printed out in report.
8. Optional upper leakage area calculation shows the effect of changing ratio
   of upper to lower leakage.
9. Optional mixture density is computed from gas weight, room volume, and
   site altitude.

Instructions for running Infiltec MSDOS Program LA

* Make a copy of the program disk and store it in a safe place as a backup
   (e.g. COPY A:*.* B:).
* You can copy the program disk onto your hard disk and run it from there
   (e.g. XCOPY A:*.* C:)
* You must have file the LA.COM to run, plus HERC.COM if you have a mono
   graphics monitor.
* To run from a floppy drive, insert the disk and log onto the drive
   (e. g. put it in drive A and get A>).
* Type the program name, HA, and press the ENTER key to start program.
* The first screen will ask you whether you want an "old" file with saved
test data or start a "new" file.
* If you can not read the first screen, press F1 to quit, and type LA S to
restart. This will slow the display.
* Type the letter O (for Old) to select an old file, so you can see some
   sample data.
* The next screen shows a directory of test files that are saved on the
   disk such as NFPA-CAL.HAL
* Type the first few letters (like N or NF) to select the file named
   NFPA-CAL and then press ENTER.
* Type Y (for Yes) when you are asked if NFPA-CAL is the file that you
   wanted.
*  Files 1301, CO2, INERGEN, FE-13, CEA-410, NAF-SIII and FM-200 are examples.
* File NFPA-CAL contains the NFPA 2001-94 sample calculation test data.
* File README has information on latest updates to the program.
* You can look through the data file you select by just pressing ENTER to
     move through screens.
* Or you can use the arrow, page, insert and delete keys to edit lines.
* Or you can use the function keys to jump around or change
          calculations:
* F1 Key = Quit the program. Before quitting, you will be asked if you want
to save your work on disk.
* F2 Key = Change flow data input from flow units (cfm or lps) to flow
pressure units (in wc or Pa).
* F3 Key = Jump ahead to the next screen. ESC jumps you back to the
   previous screen.
* F4 Key = Change the measurement units from metric (Pa & lps) to English
(in wc & cfm) and back.
* F5 Key = Save your work on a disk file that you can name and retrieve
   later.
* F6 Key = Change the calculation type from "NFPA only" to "Infiltec & NFPA"
   and back.
* F7 Key = Print a report of all data entered or computed up through the
screen you are on, or you can save the report in a disk file for your
   word processor.

Standard Program features:

* Data can be easily saved and retrieved from small disk files. These
   files have a ".HAL" extension)
* The program works with any video board: CGA, Hercules, EGA, VGA, etc.
* Data editing uses all the standard keys: Insert, Delete, Page, Arrows, etc.
* Function keys are used to jump between screens and to change modes.
* Color is used on all screens, but the program also works on monochrome or
   LCD monitors.
* You can switch from English to metric units (and back) by pressing key F4. Note that if you save a data file, the type of units will be saved, and the next time you display this data, the units will be the same as when you saved it. So if you always work in one set of units, you will not have to switch back and fourth if you do not want to.
* Key F6 switches you between straight NFPA 2001-94 calculations and the
Infiltec calculations. Note that NFPA calculations predict the hold time
for 1/2 of the initial concentration (3% if you discharge 6%), while
Infiltec has developed a prediction of the hold time for a 1% drop in the
concentration (5% if you discharge 6%). Since the Infiltec calculations
may be confusing to your customers who do not understand the NPFA
calculations, you can stay in the NFPA mode during demonstrations, and
then switch to the Infiltec mode when you need to have a better prediction
   of actual discharge test results.
* When you exit the program, you are always asked to save your data so
that valuable test results will not be lost. If you were editing a
previous test file, you are given the option of overwriting the original
file or creating a new file name.
* The program is designed to be user friendly so that it is difficult to
   accidently make serious errors.

Please give us your suggestions for improvements and let us know about any
   problems.
