Bring a lawn chair. There is a BIG sign at the store so be alert. Report on JUNE 16, 2007 Meeting The June 16, 2007 meeting was called to order. Ben welcomed everyone—there were approximately 80 members and guests in attendance. Treasurer and Secretary gave their reports Nugget Raffle was discussed: Ben requested that all members take at least 5 tickets to try and sell. If you don’t sell them, just turn them back in. You can get tickets at a meeting and also Ben has a supply of them at the Dillwyn store. If you can’t get to either of these outlets, let us know and we can mail you tickets. The tickets need to be turned back by the September meeting and the drawing will be held at the October meeting. OLD BUSINESS: Goldvein property will now have a gate and combination lock. The combination is the same as the one for all the Buckingham properties. Buckingham properties: Renewal of these properties will be due in July. We had a discussion as to which properties we want to keep and also which properties we want to open for dredging. As of now, the club has voted and approved that there will be NO dredging at property No. 1 and also at No. 3 the landowner will not allow dredging. Property Nos. 2, 5, 6 and 7 are dredgeable. At the Goldvein property there will be no dredging at the request of the owner. There was a discussion of dredging at No. 4 because the creek is small. A vote was taken and it was unanimously decided that there would be NO dredging at No. 4. It was also decided that all of the Buckingham properties will be renewed in July. There was a discussion about using a gravity dredge on property No. 1—for and against. A vote was taken and the majority ruled that there would be NO gravity dredging on No. 1. On property No. 8 a gravity dredge CAN be used. I KNOW YOU GET TIRED OF HEARING THIS BUT REMEMBER—NO OPEN FIRES, IF YOU DIG A HOLE FILL IT BACK WHEN YOU LEAVE—PICK-UP ANY LITTER YOU SEE WHETHER IT IS YOURS OR SOMEONE ELSE’S. ALSO, NO DIGGING IN THE BANKS. Not following these rules can get our lease pulled and that hurts all of us !! If you see someone breaking any of these rules, say something to them. If this doesn’t work, contact Ben at (434) 983-1300. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR GREEN LAND FEE CARD WITH YOU WHEN YOU ARE AT ANY OF THE PROPERTIES. Remember that when it is rainy, be careful where you drive and don’t tear up the roads. If you come to a rope across a road, leave it there and walk in. The rope means that the road is muddy and should not be driven on. DO NOT TAKE DOWN THE ROPE. A suggestion was made about donations to help cover expenses for the Dillwyn meeting place. A basket was passed around. The July meeting will again be held at the Lovin Gold store at 1082 Main Street in downtown Dillwyn. There was a panning contest after the meeting. Jerry Bond is our fastest panner for which he won a gold nugget. There was also a common dig conducted at the property No. 1. All who joined in got gold. There was a super fantastic cake made by Lynn Shaw. The superb decoration depicted a creek with a gold pan at the bottom. The drawings for the gold nuggets and door prizes were conducted and then the meeting was adjourned. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Just a reminder that if you have any prospecting related equipment that you would like to offer for sale, just let us know and we will include it in our newsletter
