CENTRAL VIRGINIA GOLD PROSPECTORS The August 19th meeting will be held at the Buckingham No. 1 property beginning at 10 AM. After the meeting we will be doing some maintenance work, including marking boundaries at the new properties. DIRECTIONS TO PROPERTY NO. 1 -- BUCKINGHAM COUNTY: On A map find the intersection of route 15 and route 60 at Sprouse’s Corner. Go 1 ½ miles south on route 15. In curve you will see a sign for route 714—go to NEXT gravel road and turn right. It is across from two churches on left. After going through gate, go past trailer on right. When you come to a clearing on the left with a large oak tree you should bear to the right. This road will take you to the creek. You should not attempt to go any further than the creek unless you have an ATV or 4-wheel drive. PLEASE NOTE; YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CONTACT BEN VAUGHAN FOR THE NEXT WEEK OR SO. IF YOU LEAVE A MESSAGE FOR HIM, HE WILL GET BACK TO YOU AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. He has GOLD FEVER really bad and is moving to Buckingham County. We will give you his new contact information as soon as it is available. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- REPORT ON JULY MEETING The July 15th meeting was called to order by the club President, Ben Vaughan. He welcomed everyone--there were approximately 55 members and guests present. The Treasurer’s and Secretary’s reports were given. Ben explained the circumstances for purchasing a trailer for the club, before he was able to obtain club approval. He then called for a vote of approval—a motion was made and seconded, a vote was held and approved the purchase. The club Vice President will be using the trailer to transport club equipment and sale merchandise. The trailer will also be used for gold shows, Field Days of Past, and other events. It was also decided to proceed with getting an estimate to have the club name lettered on the sides of the trailer and to install some shelving. Ben noted that he is still seeing holes not being filled back in. PLEASE fill any holes you dig. NEW PROPERTIES: Two of the new properties have creek frontage. One parcel will be shared with the hunt club like the original property. Two of the properties need to be marked so it was decided to temporarily put flags at the boundaries of the creek to show how far our rights go. We will also be putting up NO TRESPASSING signs. On the new properties we are still waiting approval to be able to dredge them. Rules that apply are about the same as the ones for the original property: no open fires, fill holes in before leaving property; take your litter with you. We will be pursuing permission to dredge on these new properties. The CVGP Gold Prospecting Guide was reviewed and handed out to members who are participating in the land use fee. Also, we would like to hear your opinion on what you think about each of the new properties so we will have sufficient information to decide which parcels we will continue to lease and what we won’t renew. IMPORTANT: PLEASE BE SURE TO STUDY THE BROCHURE—IT GIVES INFORMATION ABOUT ALL OF THE LEASED PROPERTIES. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES GO OUTSIDE THE INDICATED BOUNDARIES AND USE ONLY THE INDICATED ROADS TO ENTER AND LEAVE (EVEN IF ANOTHER WAY LOOKS EASIER AND CLOSER). We have leased approximately 4 ½ miles of creek frontage. Some of the properties are in very rugged terrain. Be careful and watch where you take your vehicle. Keep in mind that cell phones do not usually work at the properties—be sure and tell someone where you will be. Tim, the Claims Committee Chairman, talked to us about what we can and cannot do at the properties. Also, each property has a name and I will be using that to refer to them in the future. We also have a new and knowledgeable member who will be assisting on the Claims Committee. Volunteers are still needed to help with the gold show in Lynchburg. There is a possibility we will have a site close to the show where we can park and also camp. Field Days of the Past will be Sept 15, 16 & 17 and we will be participating again. We will also be having our regularly scheduled meeting on the 16th at the original Buckingham property (designated as property No. 1). IMPORTANT: Ben reminded us that the land use fee ($100) runs from March through February and not from when the fee is paid. Also, he announced that for those members who are paying the fee in installments, there should be a minimum payment of $25 made at each of our remaining meetings, with the balance due to be PAID IN FULL by the October 2006 meeting. If this isn’t going to be possible, you will need to talk to Ben. We were also reminded that we still need to work on selling gold nugget and metal detector raffle tickets. We will need all the monies and tickets turned by the September meeting. The drawings will be held at the October meeting. The possibility of year round meetings is being considered. We have grown so much and there is still ongoing business in the winter (besides we may be experiencing cabin fever and need to get out.) These meetings would be held at the Small Country Campground in Louisa. John Sorg gave us a report on the activities of the Northern Virginia Club. Our best wishes are sent to Tom Sablon. August and September meetings will be held at the No. 1 Buckingham property. Lunch will be provided at the August meeting -- if you would like to bring something, it would be appreciated ! ------------------------------------- FOR SALE: Bags of Concentrate – guaranteed to containgold, Buckingham concentrate. $10 per bag plus shipping.
