CVGP REPORT OF OCTOBER 30, 2004 MEETING__________________ The meeting was held on October 30th at our leased property in Buckingham County. There were approximately 50 people present. The weather was splendid and everyone was anxious to try their luck at finding gold. But first, there was a brief meeting. The Minutes for the September meeting and Treasurer’s Report were given and approved. · The main business was the election of new officers: Nominations for new club officers were made at the September meeting as follows: · President - Ben Vaughan – (804) 693-9843 BEVS23061@yahoo.com Vice President - John Schlabach – (540) 949-4741 WEAS1000@aol.com Secretary - Bob Stowe (540) 948-6689 Bob&Sandy@crosslink.net Treasurer - Sandy Stowe (540) 948-6689 Bob&Sandy@crosslink.net Claims Committee - Billy Cartwright, Randy Worden, Roland Harris Since there were no further nominations, the above listed members became the new officers for the 2005 season. Boundary lines at the leased property were discussed and it is anticipated that by the beginning of our new season, they will be visibly marked and hopefully we will also have a map of the boundaries. Please remember that the trails get very muddy when it rains, DO NOT TEAR-UP THE ROADS. ALSO, LEAVE NO LITTER AND IF YOU DIG ANY HOLES, FILL THEM BACK. A work day will be designated early this spring. Ben Vaughan told us about his weekend at Field Days of the Past and announced that Harry McElhone has volunteered to take over doing that event next year. Ben said lots of people were interested in finding out about gold prospecting and that a good time was had by all, except when the flood came and literally almost washed Ben and his van away. He did manage to save the gold !! Harry also told us he is going to be organizing another trip to North Carolina in August. If you are interested, let him know at HARRYMC1@people.pc.com or (410)749-2861. One of our members had a request for an upcoming meeting—he would like to learn about making gold jewelry. If anyone has experience with this or knows someone who would be willing to do a demonstration, please let us know. Bob & Sandy were acknowledged for their efforts for the club including hosting a meeting, etc. Sandy was presented with a lovely BIG nugget on a gold chain, which was greatly appreciated and is worn with pride. She says that is the only way she will ever get a nugget. Last, but certainly not least, drawings and door prizes were done. We would like to again thank the Spurrs for donating the Canadian nugget for our raffle and Tom Sablon for his donation of bags of concentrates. We would like to remind you that if you change your email address and want to continue receiving the newsletters and updates, please let us know your new address. This would certainly help our record keeping efforts. We have been contacted by a Coin and Relic Club in Roanoke, VA. They are looking for someone in the area who would be willing to come to a meeting and tell them about gold prospecting. We have a number of members who live around Roanoke so if anyone is interested, please let us know and we will put you in touch. It would be another good opportunity to get the word around about prospecting for gold as a hobby. A meeting schedule for the March through October 2005 season will be sent to you as soon as it is finalized. Most of the meetings will be on the 3rd Saturday of each month. We hope that each of you had a very Merry Christmas and that the New Year is full of wonderful things. Stay safe and we look forward to seeing everyone in March. P.S. Joe Coyle and his son Danny wanted us to let everyone know that they have a 4” dredge for sale. It has air with it that has never been used. They are asking $1,800.00 for it and can be contacted at (540)672-9113. HOPE YOUR PANS OVERFLOW IN 2005 !!!!
