Minutes from our last meeting: SEPTEMBER 21, 2002 MEETING of CENTRAL VIRGINIA GOLD PROSPECTOR'S The meeting was called to order and a moment of silence was observed. There were approximately 33 people in attendance. The dredging permits were available to complete by those present. They will be sent in after the October 26th meeting to give more individuals the opportunty to fill out the form. It will then take a month or so to get the permits back. This will be during our winter break and hopefully we will be all set by the beginning of the new season. Also, it is once again time to elect new officers. This will be done at the next meeting. Anyone interested in serving in one of the positions, President, Vice President, Secretary or Treasurer, should let us know as soon as possible. It is with regret we were informed that Rod Ingalls, our present President, will not be available for the position next year. Vice President Ned Skinner thanked everyone who participated in the Goldvein outing. We in turn told him we certainly appreciated all the work he did to bring this about. There was a discussion of the condition of Contrary Creek--it was described as deplorable. Ben Warner, our Claims Committee Chairman, presented ideas on how to treat a land owner's property when we are prospecting. A brief synopsis is TAKE CARE AND LEAVE IT IN AS GOOD OR BETTER CONDITION THAN YOU FIND IT. There is a possibility of some land that may become available for the Club to use. The concerns of the land owners were discussed and we have to make some decisions on how to regulate ourselves as to a way to pick designated times for a certain number of people to be at the property. If you have any suggestions for Ben, you can contact him at bwarner@a-t-i.com We are trying to obtain a list of Saturdays that are open for us to attend a mining safety course and will let you know when we have that. The course is free but there is a $10 charge for a certificate and card. The discussion was then opened for whether or not to re- join the GPAA. Ned Skinner set forth some reasons for re-joining GPAA--mainly for GPAA help with issues regarding prospecting in Virginia and how we can deal with legislation that may be put into effect. A VOTE WAS TAKEN AND IT WAS UNANIMOUS TO RE-JOIN GPAA. Please Note: So much was discussed at the last meeting that it cannot all be set forth in this message--it would turn into a book. If you have any questions about any of the above, please contact me at bob&sandy@crosslink.net Hope to see everyone on the 26th. Don't forget to consider becoming an officer or who you would like to see in that capacity as new officers will be chosen on that date.
