The minutes for the April 20th meeting are as follows:

CENTRAL VIRGINIA GOLD PROSPECTORS

Minutes of Meeting - April 20, 2002

Where: Small Country Campground, Louisa, VA

Started: 10:45 AM

*The meeting was opened by President Rod Ingalls--approximately 30 people were in attendance. Joe Coyle led the group in prayer, for which we thank him.

*Three prospective new members were recognized and welcomed.

*Ned Skinner, Vice President, talked with the owner of the campground about availability of space for our meetings which are usually held on the 3rd Saturday of the month. There was a conflict for June and October so the following changes were made:

JUNE MEETING CHANGED TO JUNE 8th

OCTOBER MEETING CHANGED TO OCTOBER 26TH

*Ned told us about permission he had received to prospect in Gold Vein. The need to find new locations for the club to prospect was discussed. He then brought up selling gold that is found, especially as collector gold. New members Eric and Brandy Hopwood offered to do some research on finding a market for selling gold.

*Bob Stowe read the minutes from the March 20th meeting and also gave the treasurer's report, showing a balance of $2,070.35.

*Next on the agenda was updating the mailing list. Rod Ingalls made a suggestion that at least one meeting a year be attended to remain on the active list. Under consideration is sending out a flyer to all members announcing that we will be instituting a fee for dues ($10 per year).

*The Claims Committee (or lack thereof) was discussed and the need to find a place for the club to prospect. There are 3 members willing to be on the Committee, Joe Coyle, Danny Coyle and Ron Pope, but we still need a chairman.

*The possibility of participating in a mining safety course offered by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Dennis McClevey will be checking on the possibility of this being done.

*The raffle was held for 2 gold nuggets and a share of the pot. The work of Helen Coyle and her "helpers" for the raffle is acknowledged with appreciation.

The meeting was adjourned at ll:35 AM.

Hope to see everyone at the upcoming meeting!!
